Community Homes for Adults, Inc. (CHAI) is a Dallas-based nonprofit founded in 1983 to help adults with intellectual disabilities live full, safe, and meaningful lives with greater independence and dignity. Its roots began with Dr. Carmen Miller Michael, who envisioned a more personal alternative to institutional living for her daughter and others with intellectual disabilities. CHAI now operates community-based homes across North Texas.
